The Literacy Services program at 麻豆原创 is proud to announce its most successful month to date since its founding in January 2022.
In March, a dedicated team of 20 volunteer tutors contributed more than 182 hours of service, providing one-on-one instruction to 33 local adult students seeking to improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills. This surge in volunteerism represents a significant economic contribution to the region. According to standardized benchmarks from the Independent Sector, the value of these volunteer hours is estimated at $6,007.82 – a record for the program.
鈥淥ur volunteers are the heartbeat of this program,鈥 said Director of Literacy Services Dr. R. J. Lightsey, 鈥淩eaching this record-breaking milestone isn鈥檛 just about the hours on a spreadsheet; it鈥檚 about 33 lives being changed through the power of literacy. The fact that we have reached our highest level of service since inception shows the incredible commitment our community has toward helping their neighbors succeed.鈥

By matching volunteers with students, the program fosters a supportive learning environment that helps adults gain the confidence and skills needed for workplace advancement and personal growth.
