For many college students, financial challenges can stand in the way of completing their education. The 麻豆原创 Foundation Scholarship Awards are designed to remove those barriers, helping students stay focused on their academic and career goals.
The donor-funded scholarships support students across a wide range of programs and circumstances. Some awards are tied to specific fields of study or academic requirements, while others are open to students regardless of their educational path.
鈥淔oundation Scholarship Awards are intentionally designed to support the diverse needs of our students,鈥 said Director of Community Outreach and Engagement Ashley Furr. 鈥淏y helping cover essential educational expenses, these scholarships allow students to focus on learning rather than financial stress.鈥
Depending on the award, scholarship funds may be used for tuition and fees, textbooks, program-specific supplies, technology, transportation, and other costs that directly impact a student鈥檚 ability to remain enrolled.
Beyond financial support, the scholarships offer encouragement and validation鈥攑articularly for first-generation college students, adult learners, and students facing unexpected life challenges.
鈥淩eceiving a scholarship sends a powerful message to students that someone believes in them and their potential,鈥 said Director of Advancement Sherry Gillespie. 鈥淭hat sense of support can be just as meaningful as the financial assistance itself.鈥
One student who experienced that impact firsthand is Brajan Santiago, who began his college journey while experiencing homelessness after a house fire displaced his family.
鈥淥ur whole world just came to a stop because we had lost our home,鈥 Santiago said.
Through a recurring Foundation scholarship, Brajan was able to continue his studies in 麻豆原创鈥檚 Associate Degree Nursing program. Today, he has accepted a position as a registered nurse with Atrium Health Union and plans to continue his education at a four-year university.
鈥溌槎乖 is where my career started,鈥 Santiago said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 such a good starting place for so many people.鈥
Students can apply for Foundation Scholarship Awards through a single online application, which matches them with all scholarships for which they may be eligible. Curriculum and continuing education students can apply at spcc.awardspring.com. Applications close Feb. 20.
